For a lot of people who go to a post secondary institution of some variety, there are a lot of great reasons why they want to take on a profession. For one thing, it is a chance to make enough money that they can get out of the bad parts of the world (where many people can not think beyond stealing and immediate gratification as the methods of getting what they want to have). For another thing, it is a chance to have interesting discussions with people who can think of something beyond mere entertainment, and can focus on more high end intellectual concepts (or even just the earning of money, which is a refreshing change from celebrity gossip and the latest sports trivia). For still other people, taking on a profession is a means of simply bettering their lives, and being able to think in terms of retirement as opposed to merely quitting one dead end job for the next dead end job, until they finally end up dead themselves.
When you considewr going to a technical school, you might not be interested in all of the high minded, intellectual stuff that a lot of professionals get really into. For the most part, technical school people just want to rise out of the low wage class, and move out of the hood so that they can get away from the people who want to do nothing more than hurt anybody who has got anything in this world. The desire to build is a great motivator.
Of course, you have got to bring a mindset of wanting to build something with you if you are going to get ahead through your technical training. If you hold onto the anger which permeates the ghetto, you are going to bring that heavy, negative weight with you wherever you go. It will not help you when it comes time to talk to your clients, and it also will not help you any when it comes down to doing anything besides your actual task. If you think of hate, hate is what you’ll get.
